Living in the middle of nowhere
one has more cows than people
for neighbors
A church, a bar
and a few scattered houses –
in Wisconsin that’s all you need
to make a town
That, and the folks that fill them.
Though, they fill the bar more than the church,
if truth be told
Ha, ha- what a tongue-in-cheek but so poignant and true poem. Are there still isolated places in Wisconsin ?

Thanks! And there are! I’m only about 30 minitues from a city of 50,000 but farther north there are very large areas that are isolated.

you know – some churches could learn something from bars when it comes to relaxed atmosphere and accepting people like they are

This is such an evocative photograph for me. Nostalgic, but still achievable. I live in a highly dense urban neighborhood, and yearn for some of what you picture here.

I’m glad this picture touches you. It actually is the unincorporated town I live in. The church is not pictured though, up the road a bit. I do like living here, I know I am fortunate in a lo of ways, but sometimes I year for cell phone coverage, which I can’t get in my home! lol

What an incredible place to live. But, yes, I totally get yearning for cell service! Oh, those modern conveniences. [[cackle]]
