NaPoWriMo – Day #30!
April bows out
leaving so prettily
though yesterday
was rainy, cold and gray
birdsong
starts this day,
insects flit and buzz everywhere,
and the pigeons low cooing
continues until dusk
Sun and wind and greening grass,
clean smell of growing things
and freshly turned earth
promise gardens of delight
to come
The flowers of May
the fruits of June
and August’s bounty
drying, dying into autumn
We made it! Congratulations to everyone who wrote 30 poems in 30 days during the month of April! Well done, you!
Wordless Wednesday – Where there’s life…
I know this is supposed to be wordless, but I feel the need to explain. This is the stem of a rose; the last of a bouquet I received on December 23. The bloom is long since spent, but I noticed a green bit, so left the stem in the vase with water. Recently a very good friend died, somewhat unexpectedly, and I am choosing to see this as a sign of hope – of the miraculous.
May 5
Sunday morning,
May sunshine
pours
through the windows.
Outside
there is a new
tenderness
to the air.
The breeze sings
in soft tones,
drawing us out,
urging us
to reach
for the sun.
Join the chorus
and sing.
This is a time
for birthing,
for growing
for beginnings.
This is a day to
be alive.
NaPoWriMo #21
This Sunday morning
millions of miracles
appear outside my door.
Resurrection everywhere.
I had 29 people over for Easter dinner, so I’m playing catch up. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. I hope you had a wonderful Easter or Passover or whatever you celebrate. And if you don’t celebrate anything I hope you had a wonderful day.
